Anger is a complicated emotion, especially for women.
You most likely grew up learning that anger is not allowed.
It's not becoming, much less professional.
For some people, expressing anger has been literally unsafe.
So you may have learned to push anger down, dismiss it and even invalidate it:
"It's not really that big of a deal."
"I'm not the angry type."
"I'm not mad, I'm just a little bit frustrated."
"It's just PMS."
But when anger builds up, eventually it takes a toll.
Either you're weighed down with resent or it explodes outward.
Your tone gets sharp or curt.
Your patience evaporates.
You yell at loved ones and then feel guilty after.
You cry at the most inopportune times.
You have a big reaction out of proportion to the situation.
Imagine anger isn't a problem to hide, but feels like an ally.
Imagine welcoming anger just like you'd welcome curiosity.
Imagine no resent. Not worrying about rage, inconvenient crying, or the aftermath of hurt feelings.
In the Befriending Anger course, you will develop a healthy relationship with anger. You'll learn to discover the wisdom you miss when you suppress it. All this will start as we examine the underlying reasons why anger is tricky for us all.
